Two New Personalities join UPMFB Board

Two new personalities in the Catholic diocese of Enugu have joined the Board of Umuchinemere Pro-Credit Micro Finance Bank. Information provided by the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of the bank, Rev. Sr. Barr. Benedicta Odo, indicates the two new directors of the bank as the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Parish Emene, Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Aniagbaoso Igwe (also known as Uduatata), and Chief Gilbert Nwoye Obu, KSJI.

Below is a brief profile of the two new members of the Board:

Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Aniagbaoso Igwe (a.k.a Uduatata)
Dr. Anthony Aniagbaoso Igwe, who was ordained a Catholic Priest on July 13, 2002, was exactly 39 years on August 31, 2012. To justify his passion for academics, Fr. Igwe has obtained a Ph.D certificate in Management at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and two different Masters degrees in Economics and Philosophy from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka respectively. He's currently pursuing two more Ph.Ds in Economics and Philosophy at the two latter universities mentioned above. He's also pursuing a Master's degree in Health Administration and Management, as well as a M.Sc. degree in Development Studies at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus. Fr. Igwe who's currently a lecturer in Management at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, apart from being the parish priest of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Emene, is the Administrator of Enugu Diocese's Hospitals and Shares in various profit making organizations, and the Diocese's Health coordinator.

Chief Gilbert Nwoye Obu, FCA
Chief Glibert Nwoye Obu is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and the Chartered Association of Certified Accountant (ACCA), London. He studied Accountancy in Birmingham, England from 1977 to 1980, and upon his return to Nigeria joined the State Civil Service where he rose to the rank of Chief Auditor in the State Audit Department. In 1985, he transferred to the State Local Government System where he served as Director of Finance/Treasurer before his voluntary retirement in 1999.

Thereafter, he joined the Accounting Firm of CHUKWU OYINZE OBU & CO. (Chartered Accountants) as a Partner. He served as Vice-Chairman, Enugu & District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He served in various Statutory Committees of the State Government. Presently too, he is a member of Board of Umuchinemere Pro-Credit Micro Finance Bank (Nigeria) Limited where he is the Chairman of the Board's Credit Committee.

He is a member of the Ancient and Noble Order of Knights of St. John International where he holds the Military rank of Colonel and the position of Worthy President, KSJI (St. Mulumba) Commandery 764, New Haven, Enugu. He holds the traditional Chieftaincy title of Ezesinachi I of Ozom, Mgbagbu Owa in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State. He is both a Justice of Peace (JP), and an Ambassador for Peace (AP). He is currently the Vice-Chairman, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, New Haven. He is married to Lady Celestina Ugo Obu, and they are blessed with children and grand children.
